A drab gray sky. A fading garden. Beds are emptying and compost bin is filling. But don’t the last few greens look nice. I added a photo of lettuce from someone else’s plot where the lettuce is still well weeded and evenly spaced. Mine has degraded to unthinned and unweeded rows (but still looks good – I think). These photos are from Thursday. Everyday now I wonder whether vegetables will be there when I return to the plot. No sense in using row cover if I don’t go evening (to…

Always fun to see whats new in the garden after being away for vacation. – The small pumpkins are turning orange. The big ones are getting enormous. I found 2 today and wouldn’t be surprised if there are more to be found under the vines. – The butternut vines are starting to mildew. But no signs of stem borers. I picked my first butternut squash today AND I counted 16 more! Amazing for 3 plants! – The savoy cabbage is heading nicely as well as a couple more red cabbages.…

Yesterday, Skippy and I got caught in the rain at the garden. A nice warm rain and we just kept on weeding anyway.

This is the garden. Time shall surely reapand on Death’s blade lie many a flower curled,in other lands where other songs be sung;yet stand They here enraptured,as amongthe slow deep trees perpetual of sleepsome silver-fingered fountain…

I’ve filled up all my beds and have begun planting extra plants in the paths. (The paths were too wide anyway…) It seems like everything is growing very fast. Potatoes are enormous. The tomatoes are beginning to grow well. Squash and eggplants too. I put melons and pumpkins at the edges of paths to grow up the fences. The cabbages and lettuce are especially lovely now.
