still too early for gardening

Though I would like to go turn my garden, plant and tend – its still too early. I planted my 10 week BLF seeds at 12 weeks BLF (before the last frost). I have tomatoes and eggplants sprouted already. Kale is getting its third set of leaves. So — Skippy and I went to the beach instead! Its a wild day at the shore. New England has a big Nor’ Easter off shore and the waves are impressive. There was sea weed over the roads from flooding at high tide…

a walk in Boston

c o l d c o l d c o l d Skippy and I went for a different route today for our walk. Boston is only a couple miles away, but not usually our destination. Today I had a little business nearby, so we walked from MIT along the Charles River, up by the Museum of Science and then down the Boston side, over the Longfellow Bridge and then back to our starting point. Yes it was chilly, cold, windy, brrr. The river is mostly frozen over now after…

Skippy

My winter coat isn’t half as nice as Skippy’s. We did try the new dog boots the other day. I won’t show a picture because they look silly. They are a thick rubber balloon material, color coded by size. Skippy’s size is bright purple. But they prevent snowballs in the paws very well. These are a big problem for Skip when we have fresh powder. Don’t know why they can’t be a more dignified color – like black. Skippy looks good in basic black. Even dark green or dark blue.…

Skippy in the snow

I will take photos of Skippy in playing the snow soon. He just loves it. Rolling, running and he buries his head under the fresh powder. So silly.

Seems like about a foot of light fluffy snow that is still coming down and blowing all over the place.

Skippy sits

Skippy often sits on a stool or a step and I think its so funny. I’ve never seen a dog sit like this. When I laugh and get my camera, he gets an annoyed/embarrassed expression. Today he sat on the stool a long time, waiting for me get ready for a walk. He knows I’m slow and it takes a while to remember all the things I like to bring: treats, treats, mittens, treats. I don’t want to forget anything. Anyway, Skippy was very patient and very cute.

Skippy and Bannor

Skippy’s new friend is Bannor – a very friendly 1 1/2 yr old Norwegian Elkhound – German Shepard mix that my brother and his family rescued a couple months ago. He sure appreciated his Thanksgiving scraps. As did Skippy.
