A couple of shots of my garden. Everything is growing like crazy. The pink rose on the fence, Dorothy Perkins, is at its peak. All of my spring veggies are producing well: The peas are ripe. Lettuce is delicious. I’m also adding cilantro, arugula, parsley, dill and garlic shoots to out salads. I see from this photo that its getting a little yellowish so I’ll fertilize today. Today was a spectacular gardening day! I planted seeds for sugar snap peas, beets, chard, kale and cilantro. I’m guessing my soil temperature is now about 45-50F. I potted up six new begonia tubers and put the pots out in a warm spot where my sprinkler will reach. I took this aerial picture of my garden with my new camera – an SLR digital: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi with an EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM lens. These are aerial views of my garden taken one per month, between May 2006 and April 2007. It makes me notice how short the growing season is: 4 months, July to October. I’d like to have more crops producing in May and November to extend the season. Note added: I remember that I started my garden planting very late last year because it rained (poured) from about April 15 to May 15. I lost 90% of my beets and onions seedlings because of this. much too cold

I thought our weather was getting better, but its gotten colder again. In the single digits this week. My yard is an ice sheet! No outdoor gardening any time soon. I didn’t want to go outside to take a picture this week – this is the view from my diningroom (my office) where I spend alot of my time working these days. Its hard to believe that it will be spring in 2 weeks! Looks like it may be a cold spring in New England.

Yesterday’s snow was the sticky type that sticks to all the tree branches and makes it look like a winter wonderland. The forcast says more snow is on the way.

Without anything going on in the garden, I am yet again fooling around with last years photos… Sometime last fall, I set up a Flickr account and started uploading my photos there. Its a way to blog a higher resolution photo than Blogger uploads allow. Flickr has all sorts of features for tagging and grouping and rating photos. The photos in this composite are the ones that have been viewed the most. Some of the photos, I wonder why they get viewed. Why do people view my thermometer (46 views)?…
