Today’s harvest was a big bunch of spinach and a couple small heads of red romaine from my winter tunnel. I made sauteed spinach with pesto on pasta and pork tenderloin for dinner. It was yummy.

I haven’t harvest anything since early January. Today I picked a big handful of curly kale, a nice bunch of cilantro, and some purple mustard leaves. Yeah! Fresh garden greens!

It seemed like a good day to open my winter tunnel. I was really curious how things looked after our cold snap down into the single digits last week. Surprisingly, it was not too bad. There were some areas on the edges, especially the north side, with mushy plants. And some plants are doing better than others. But lots of the plants look really good. pears – a bumper crop this year
I’m reviewing each of my crops this year. Here’s the story on my my pears. I have two espaliered trees, a Bartlett and an Kieffer at my community garden plot, about 5-7 years old now. April 13, I sprayed with 2% horticultural oil at the swollen bud stage. I meant to spray again between green cluster and white bud, but forgot. (Spraying is done to control psylla, mites and scale.) my fall harvest
These are vegetables I picked last Saturday, the day before our first frost. I’ll have to post a photo of our watermelon martinis. Carrot or radish martinis are good too. I made a nice chili out of those Black Turtle beans last night. I’ll post that photo soon too.
green tomatoes
Seems we might get a freeze or frost Sunday night. I picked 32 lbs of green tomatoes today! This caps off a pretty good harvest. I didn’t weigh everything, but I bet I harvested 100-150 lbs of tomatoes.
