on Veteran’s Day

mum

… to pay tribute to all of those who have served our country!

This is a late fall mum that is beautiful in my parents garden now. Its a great salmon color, with daisy type flowers and a loose natural form. Hardy and comes back every year. I’d love to get a big bunch of these for my garden. The name is Sheffield Pink and links I found are Burpee or Triple Oaks Nursery.

  • Yum! That sure is a nice color for this time of year. I bet it compliments the yellows, oranges, and apricots of the leaves.

  • It does. It looks really nice with the fallen leaves.

  • Hi Kathy and Skip. After seeing your beautiful gesture and flower for all those we remembered yesterday wanted to say lucky it was a bright albeit cold day here in London for the ceremony. The remaining 3 WW1 veterans laid their wreaths of poppies in the sunshine while we reflected. I love your fantastic journal, my sister and I have taken on an allotment this year and have almost finished clearing it of tall heavily rooted grass. Although I have been growing veggies for 2 years now in the garden, this is a project and a half. I feel excited but think I am nuts too as there isn’t enough time in the day now!! Regards from the U.K. Marian.
