harvest 018

I was working all last week and didn’t get time to go to the garden. On Saturday I found a bunch of scary giant zucchinis! I left 4 of the biggest squashes out for others to take. The good news is they disappeared within a few minutes.

I cannot believe how delicious my potatoes are this year. Last night we grilled then – fantastic.

The cucumber below is a long Sooyow nishiki Asian cucumber and I forgot to photograph it before I sliced it – next time.

What’s here: Bennings Green Tint summers squash, Romanesco zucchini, yellow crookneck summer squash, red potatoes, fennel, some small purple onions, a bunch of little red radishes, a head of Chinese cabbage, and two beets: a Chiogga and a Detroit white.

  • I've been envying your posts and then was surprised yesterday with my very first squash to harvest…. ever! I can't wait to grill it tonight.

  • MMM! Potatoes! Can't wait to see more of those. We grew our first potatoes this year and from peeking under the soil, they look great. I can't wait!

  • What kind of flavoring does the Sooyow nishiki Asian cucumber have? I'm always looking to try new ones, in the future.

Fantastic! We have courgettes coming out of our ears! I though of your Mum's "Post them through doors"! It may come to that, I am going to do a courgette and apple cake tonight, if it's good I'll make a few and give them away! Our cucumbers are really slow this year, by this time last year we had loads, oh well that's how it goes.

  • Everything looks soo good. I do not have cucumbers big enough yet but they are coming. I had some more of my french breakfast redishes which are great but my regular red redishes did not do good as I believe they have too much shade or something. I will try your squash next year, look so good. I have been getting tons of peppers. Did you not plant any this year or they are just slow? I did not intend to have potatoes but will have some due to free crob on my compost pile :p well every garden have their own schedule for veggies I guess. I can not wait to have my cucumbers and tomatoes :]
    enjoy your goodies,

  • My peppers and tomatoes are very slow this year. (I raised the seedlings in my cold frame and they grew slowly in the cool. Next year they will stay inside – or I'll get some heat in the frame.) I do have lots of peppers coming along and big green tomatoes on the vines now – so I am getting the salad bowl ready for next week. =)

  • What is that in the upper left corner that looks sort of like a white baseball glove?
