blizzard in Boston

What’s with the weather up there?!! I’m flying back tomorrow. I was hoping to see beautiful spring weather in NE. The forecast for my vegetable gardens is 10-15 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. Hmmm. Well, I’m on the beach again today, so I’ll worry about this later.

  • Old Man Winter is letting everyone know who is the boss! Gotta love this time of year with it’s teasers of spring and deluges of winter.
I actually love snow and wish we could have some if it has to be cold!
Your plants will love the insulation!

  • I hope your flight is ok. I suspect the airport will be closed for the morning. I’m kind of bummed about it. I finally started seeing garden soil this weekend.

  • They’re promising 8-12 in Boston, and up to 16″ outside 495. March is absolutely the longest month of winter… 🙁 Fly safe!

  • I read your post and thought I must be in for the storm too. I looked it up and we are having cold & sun until next friday, then warm & rain. Funny how weather can be so different in relative proximity.

I'd just stay on the beach until the mess gets all cleaned up, maybe have a few radish cocktails too 🙂

  • We got snow last night (Maryland). Most of it is gone now, but it is bitter cold. Yesterday was so nice! Humph.

Yes, the beach sounds lovely and I think Dan has the right idea…

  • Are you crazy Kathy?! STAY in Fla for 1 more day. You might not have a choice anyway…airports might be closed. Atlanta cancelled 300 flights today. Besides all of the snow we’re getting, the winds are supposed to be whipping tonight and tomorrow. Just STAY PUT!

We’re supposed to get 6″ to 10″ where I’m at. Will spring EVER come?! On a brighter note…to my delight, while reading a Park Seed email today…I’m a runner up in one of Park Seeds contests; the winner of a $25 Gift Cert. : )
It ALMOST makes up for all that snow we are going to get! hehe

  • Here in NY we’re expecting 6-10″ too. Enjoy the warm sun while you can. Better yet, bring some back to the NE with you. (Can you tell I’ve really had it with winter?!)

  • I think you should stay one more day and soak up some rays for the rest of us! I am so tired of winter…

  • Yeah, we’re snowed in and everything is cancelled for today. I did manage to gets peas into the ground on Saturday morning before the strom hit though! This winter has been tough, but it’s been worse; remember the winter of 1996? The Boston area had 8 feet of snow that year! And about 4 years ago we had cold like this, but no snow and there were big loses with trees and landcape plants because everthing was freeze-dried due to the lack a protective snow cover.

  • Yep, a whole foot of snow, in our Arlington garden right now!!! It’s making me crazy! Can’t wait for it to warm up!

  • I’d rather have your snow than the single digits we are having in NE Ohio. At least melting snow is great for the soil and the snow protects what is under it. Raw cold just does damage. Ugh.

  • When folks grumble about how they've had it with winter's snow & cold perhaps this signifies spring is about to spring.

    Idle thoughts from Vermont.
