  • He’s such a handsome boy! Love the Skippy pictures – whether he’s in the garden or not! – Daisy

  • He only looks at a camera if I offer a treat. Here he had his eye on a dog cookie with butter on it. (The actual command is “LOOK for butter treat”.) These are a favorite of Skippy’s.

  • It’s not fair! I can’t hug Skippy. He makes me want to, you know.

  • Too bad – he’d love a hug.

  • That is a great picture of Skippy. I have just written a paper on the various issues surrounding black dogs. It is really difficult to photograph them well, you have done a fantastic job. It is also difficult to get them to look straight into the camera. I will come back to this picture, it will make me smile now that the nights are getting so dark and depressing!

  • Is your paper on black dogs available anywhere? I’d love to read it.

It’s a real challenge to take pictures of Skippy. I was so happy his eyes are showing here. I always have to use photoshop and adjust the contrast and shadows in photos of Skippy.

Skippy is a VERY smart dog and knows the word “look” very well. I just wish I had more time to train him as he is so capable. He’s breed to be a working dog and I know he would love more challenge. Though he seems to enjoy guarding his pack and territory and does this well.

  • That is a fabulous picture of Skippy! I have a tough time taking pictures of my Portie mix because when I try to get a shot, he rushes over to see what I want from him. He is very attentive to me, though not always obedient, lol.

  • Porties are just so smart!

Skippy has been really cooperative recently. He’s a good worker. I’m planning to start up some more training with him. Its a good challenge for both of us. If you’re in the area, the program at NEDTC is great. Skippy and I will see which of these classes we do best in. The drop-in format is nice.

  • It is REALLY hard to photograph black dogs! In most photos, they just look like a void in space! Check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/curtisjones/385464408/ for another black dog picture …

  • That’s a great photo of your black lab skimming over the snow! Even harder to get a shot when your your dog is moving fast!

(ps – I love your seeds.)

  • Oh, thanks for the link! I’m in school myself at the moment, but I really want to see what I can teach him to do. We’re right next to Boston.
