eggplant blossoms

eggplant flower

Another sign that summer is finally approaching: my eggplants have started to bloom. They’re a bit mud spattered, but seem to be enjoying the sunny blue sky today.

Hi Kathy, my sister and I have been getting very excited about our Aubergine plants too! It is the first time we have tried them, so far in the seed/plant process, so good. The leaves have a wonderful texture and the fruit flowers seem to appear in a blink. We are crossing our fingers that we get some to eat and share.

  • What a difference a year makes. Last year we had eggplant out the wazoo. This year we have had wonderful weather for people (sunny but cool and dry) but lousy for eggplant (and okra, and other plants that love hot and muggy). But I do have terrific fennel bulbs. The weather give'th and the take'th away.
